Uncovered from the vaults, we present a lesser known EP from the legendary grind trio Brenda from Wife Swap. This however is no grind, but the result of a studio session inhibited by a strange liquid the band had acquired from a Shaman during their last world tour. The liquid contained the pulverised flesh of the Leviathan Slug - a potent and unpredictable sludge that was known to either make or break those who ingested it.

The Leviathan juice sent Brenda into a stupor - limbs stopped functioning, rhythm was thrown out the window and the in house sound engineer was so discombobulated that mixing was definitely out the question. The closer 'Slug Leviathan' contained some of the most complex drumming by the band's sticksman Basildon Crampton, but due to the intense compression the sound engineer placed upon the outs of the desk (3 hours after ingesting he compulsively daisychained every compressor in the building - threshold max, think it must have been around 24 in total) the patterns were lost and in the confusion, drums were played louder and harder to combat the crushing pushback of the compressors, resulting in the spontaneous combustion of the Crampton's limbs and the end of the session.

The sort of music that is beyond time. The sort of music that you feel more than you hear. I love the fact that vaporwave/dreampunk projects like these have such extremely evocative aesthetics they directly fill your mind with sensations you didn't know you had. You'd maybe think it relies on that solely, but it's coupled with gorgeous musicianship + intense production ideas. The volume and spaces it creates just pull you in instantly whatever your initial mood was. Still stunning to this day. SUPRAQUENCER
